Chinese New Year 2010

Chinese New Year, Lunar New Year, or Spring Festival is the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays. It is commonly called "Lunar New Year", because it is based on the lunisolar Chinese calendar. This year, is the year of the Tiger!

One of the traditions during Chinese New Year is the giving of red envelopes and red packets called “Ang Pow”. These Ang Pows are usually are passed out during the Chinese New Year’s celebrations, from married couples or the elderly to unmarried juniors. Red packets almost always contain money, usually varying from a couple of dollars to several hundred.

We went to Thean Hou Temple at Kuala Lumpur to photograph the preparation for this festive celebration that was about to took place 2-3 days later. Enjoy the photos!

Anugerah Juara Lagu ke 24, Malaysia

On 10th January 2010, the most prestigious music award in Malaysia took place at Bukit Jalil. We received free ticket seating from Alyah as she was our previous client [here]. All 14 finalist really gave their best during the show. Kudos to TV3 for a job well done on the production side of things, despite some minor technical glitches.

On the 7th of November was the celebration of Adam's very first birthday. The event took place at his granny's house at Bukit Damansara. It rained that evening but the party must go on! Luckily there were lots of space inside the house and everyone enjoyed the day as if it never rained at all. Enjoy the photos!

On the 22nd October 2009 / 3 Zulkaedah 1430H, was the solemnization of Amer Munawer & Julia. Amer is the founder of Click A Child, a platform and enabler for all charitable cause. Just before the fasting month we shot an artist named Alyah for her 'Kad Raya'. It was fun as her crew and herself are easy to work with. Below are a few info about her and of course, her photos :)

Alyah got her first taste of stardom when she emerged as the champion of Bintang HMI in 2000 with her excellent rendition of Francesca Peters’ Andainya and Khatijah Ibrahim’s Ku Ingin Lari.

Her career in the music business started when she landed on a recording deal with a local label. Some of her albums are HASLIA (2001) and PERMATA (incorporated well-known producers and composers including LY, Bong, Miji, Aji, Kelly, Pacai, Ross Arifin, Zuraini and Taj Mahal)

In 2006, Alyah participated in a reality singing competition; 8TV’s One In A Million. She made to the Top 12 before she had been voted out on the fourth week.

She had been in a Hip Hop group named The Fabulous Cats, and involved in their first album. The first hit single was ‘Papa Jahat’. Other songs which also enjoyed great play on local stations include ‘Fantastik’ and ‘Rimas’.

Her solo album is produced by a well-known singer and composer, Ajai under his label, Wake The Baby with co-operation by Complete Version and being distributed by Maestro Records. The album is indo-pop oriented and involved few well-known lyricists; Habsah Hassan, Slen and Abie.

Solemnization of Khairul and Nurul

On the 10th of April 2009 was the solemnization of Khairul and Nurul. The event took place at Dewan Tun Raha, Bangi. The newly weds are beautifully tailored by Lyndarahim, which from what we discovered, is one of the most 'wanted' bridal boutique that brings joy to delighted brides and grooms. Lyndarahim is also responsible for the 'pelamin'. We discovered lots of her clients are satisfied with their services. Do visit the page to know more about them.

The East Coast Economic Region (ECER) covers the states of Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang, as well as the district of Mersing in Johor. With an area measuring more than 66,000 sq km, the ECER covers more than half of Peninsular Malaysia. The ECER's population of about 3.9 million represents 14.5% of the total population of Malaysia.

A Master Plan was developed and will be the basis for guiding the development of this region over the next 12 years where it will be transformed into a major international and local tourism destination, an exporter of resource based and manufactured products, a vibrant trading centre, and an infrastructure and logistics hub.

The Master Plan also details measures to eradicate poverty, and improve incomes and distribution in a sustainable manner for ECER.

The ECER ’s distinctive natural resources, culture & heritage will form the basis for transforming the economy into one that is dynamic and competitive in light of greater regional and global competition and economic liberalisation.

Earth Hour 2009 is a truly global initiative. Here you can watch video and read stories about other witnesses and warriors involved in the fight against climate change. There are several ways as listed in this web, about how to act against global warming. as we all are very aware of, the world today is slowly but surely deteriorating.

Earth Hour in Malaysia is planned and run by WWF-Malaysia and its partners. Yesterday, the public and participants are welcomed to join the Earth Hour by turning off their lights for one hour from 8.30pm-9.30pm. Below are some of the photos that we manage to capture.

Hello friends. Its already March! Time do flies, kan? OK, time for updates.. Last 28th February located at Kolej Tun Syed Nasir, UKM KL, in collaboration with 4KL and Click A Child (CAC), an event called Malam Amal Akustik was held. The entrance fee was RM10 and part of it is donated to CAC.

That night, the stage was taken over by Rosin, Bunkface, News at 11 and Influx. The set was acoustic so the ambience was relaxing and 'in order' ;p

After a photojournal session with the friendly 'fishes' named Barramundi and Jade Pearch at Majuikan's fish farm at Bagan Lalang, we went to the nearby beach. The sky was beautiful that evening. Unfortunately there were no models to 'compliment' the beautiful background of the sunset.

Then we saw a couple enjoying the sunset. We saw the opportunity and we approached them. We suggested a photo session for them. Well, they loved the idea :)

Thaipusam, Batu Caves 2009

8th February 2009....

We woke up early that day. the day before we stayed up late, editing adib's wedding photo.. as usual, not enough sleep :]

BUT, since Thaipusam comes once a year, and because of our excitement to capture the religious Hindu ritual, we pushed aside everything else. even though this photoshoot is not particularly a 'job' but the fun of taking photos is never forgotten :]

Thaipusam is a Hindu festival celebrated mostly by the Tamil community on the full moon in the Tamil month of Thai (Jan/Feb). It is also referred to as Thaipooyam or Thaippooyam in the Malayalam language. Pusam refers to a star that is at its highest point during the festival. The festival commemorates both the birthday of Murugan (also Subramaniam), the youngest son of Shiva and Parvati, and the occasion when Parvati gave Murugan a vel (spear) so he could vanquish the evil demon Soorapadman.

This company started as a passion and now it has become our source of income :]

so, us - faiz, oat, ahmad, nan and ateh, went to Batu Caves to capture moments of this important day for Hindus all over. this 'trip' also taught us a bit of the Indian culture and below, is the colours that we manage to capture. The colours of Thaipusam :]

Belicious Boutique & Cafe Official Launch Party

On saturday, 17 Jan 09 was the launching of Belicious Boutique & Cafe. We were invited by our good friend, Fathan to tag along and were given the opportunity by Umie Aida to cover the event. The party was fun and the colour theme of Red & Black really puts in the mood for the launching. The combination of red and black can never go wrong :)

They provide free give-a-ways, and swag bags to the first 100 guests. There were even model manikins rotating from platforms that showcase Belicious's new and trendiest collections. They even serve free food straight from their kitchen for the guests to indulge their taste buds with tantalizing foods.

Other than that, there were even entertained by their guest DJ..DJ Proxy and there were dance performance by Ruined and Poised.

Juara Senyum at Paya Jaras

Juara Senyum is on! On the 11th January 09, we followed the the CAC team and Rosin (formerly known as Radiostar) to Rumah Kasih Harmoni (RKH), Paya Jaras, Sungai Buloh. RKH is a home for orphans and the less fortunate. We were greeted by the We Care team.

Show them that we care. Not just by giving donations, but also by exposing them to the world outside, current issues and also future prospects. Some of us may have the chance to get to know about the 'world' through our parents or the facilities we have at home. But for these kids, the may not have the same opportunity that we have.

Hopefully, CAC and those who care can help these children in building a better 'future' for them. Money is not everything guys. Education, information and exposure IS.

Band Shoot :: Matematik

Matematik is one of the indie bands that is receiving much attention in the scene since last year. Pekanmaya called us to shoot a few pictures for their EP. We were told that they are interested in 'neon' concept so we browsed Flickr and found this.

So, setelah memerah otak, we bought out 'equipments' (black backdrop, a disco ball, our Bowen lighting, a very dark room, cameras and attitude) and went to the Pekanmaya studio and started shooting. The outcome was more that what we expected. These are some of the photos.

This band consists of Mugabe as vocal, Shah the bass player and Nabil Zuhaily plays the guitar. Currently on session is Nasoha {Human Actually} as the drummer.

Cantik bukan? hehehe. So far we have recieved good feedbacks, Alhamdulillah... So to Matematik, keep on rawking! We enjoyed working with you guys.

The Times at Pekanmaya

Siapa tak kenal The Times? The Times are - Naza, Moon, Mono and Irfan. Friendly bunch of people :) . Seriously guys, this band is one of the pioneers in popularizing the Malay Language in their songs. They had a recording session for a NTV7's New Year 2009 show at Pekanmaya, so we took the chance to photograph the band :)

Barra Cafe, Ampang

A good friend of Jas, Nabeela Mansor who is also the producer of radio station, contacted us if we can photograph food. YES. Food. I said of course because a few days back we were discussing about trying to go into cafe/restaurant photography business. Alhamdulillah, we had the opportunity.

She gave us the contact number of Mahani, a staff there and we discussed a bit about the job. Obviously the best way is to go there ourselves and capture the shop itself. These are just some of the photos that we took that day.

These dishes are not only for us to photograph, but also for us to EAT. Serious, MEMANG SEDAP. Thanks for the opportunity to capture these photos and also bagi makan free yang sedap. hehehe

The Wedding of Khairil & Wawa

On the 21st November 2008/23 Zulkaedah 1429 H, Khairul Ephzan and Siti Salwa was officially and legally declared as Husband and Wife :)

The solemnization took part at the majestic Putrajaya Mosque and on the next day, on the 22nd November was the reception for the bride's side of the family. The event was held in a hall near the Palace of Justice, Putarajaya Boulevard. Then after the reception was over, we took a stroll near the big green lawn in front of the Palace of Justice and has our outdoor session.

SINKRONIS : a short film by jaja kadir

On 24th December 2008, Ironi Iris collaborated with Jaja Kadir in producing a short film called SINKRONIS. We were assigned to capture some still photos for prop purposes, to be used in the making of the film.

After a few brainstorming sessions with the crew, we gave some ideas and art direction in succeeding this film. We were also assigned to design the poster of the film. Alhamdulillah, everybody loved it :)

Ok, a bit about the film. Sinkronis is a short film that tells about a love story between a photographer named Din (Sofi Jikan) and his lover Yus (Fazleena).

:: 24 December 08. The photography location for the props is at Bukit Ekspo, UPM, Serdang. The students were in their semester holiday so the ambiance was perfect.. senyap, sunyi dan tak kecah. We took Fazleena (Kapal Kertas) for the photography shoot there. As usual, kami paksa dia posing sakan :)

Family Portrait

Eid al-Adha or also called the "Festival of Sacrifice" or "Greater Bairam" is a religious festival celebrated by Muslims worldwide to commemorate the willingness of Ibrahim, to sacrifice his son Ismail as an act of obedience to God. However, God provided a ram in place once Ibrahim demonstrated his willingness to follow God's commands.

During the previous Eid Adha (8 December 2008) , we went to Bukit Rahman Putra, Sg Buloh to shoot a family portrait of Bashira. Thanks Bashira for inviting us to shoot your family :)

We didn't have the chance to spend Eid Adha at our own 'kampung' as there are some delayed works to be settled down. huhuhu. So we used this opportunity to set up a family portrait session.

Equipments used- Bowen esprit 500 studio light x 2 + super large soft box. haha. Thanks again to Bashira and her family :) Here are the photos :

The wedding of Adam & Lulu

On the 12, 13 and 14 December 2008 was the solemnization and receptions of Adam and Lulu. The solemnization took part at Lulu's house. Then the next day was the wife side of the family reception, held at the Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA) hall. Then the next day was at Adam's house in Serdang. These photos are during the solemnization and at Adam's house.

Marhaban. A religious ritual usually done by the Muslims of Malaysia during weddings, khatam of the Quran, Aqiqah etc. The marhaban starts at 10a.m. at Adam's house.

On 1st Dec 08, we were assigned by Mermotto CreativeWorks by Amir on a commission job for an Art School for pre-schoolers to teenagers by the name of 'Circle of Colors' located at SS2, Petaling Jaya. It was an interesting experience to work and play with the kids there. Yes, yes Uncle Oat and Uncle Faiz will entertain you. haha.

This made me recall last time i used to read about humpty dumpty.

The teachers are guiding the children on how to make your own sail-car out of A4 sized paper, a couple of straws and polo sugarmints (yes, sugarmints).

Pija & Farah Mentor single album launch

On the 26th November 2008 was the launching of Pija and Farah Mentor's single album. Mentor is one of Malaysia's reality TV singing program. Each contestant will have their own mentor - Malaysia's local artist. The student of a mentor is called a protégé or mentoree. Sometimes, the protégé is also called a mentee.

We even received a CD of their single :)

At the 7th and 8th November 2008, a seminar is held at de Palma Hotel, Shah Alam. The seminar is about the importance of one thing that most of us neglect - Neighbours. The seminar is called "Seminar Hala Tuju Baru Jiran Wanita Peringkat Negeri Selangor".

A neighbourhood is a geographically localised community within a larger city, town or suburb. Neighbourhoods are often social communities with considerable face-to-face interaction among members. Neighbourhoods are typically generated by social interaction among people living near one another. In this sense they are local social units larger than households not directly under the control of city or state officials.

So basically this seminar is a 'reminder' of how a neighbourhood should or must work. Neighbours should work hand-in-hand. Bukan baling batu sorok tangan :)

We traveled to this company - AVP Engineering (M) SDN BHD for their company profile photoshoot. A company profile is essentially a resume for a company that is used to establish the credibility with the market that they serve. A company profile helps potential customers to understand the business as well as to understand a company's approach, unique strengths, and relevant experience.

These photos were during the launching of their new 'product' and also their for their company profile. The factory is huge!

Radiostar collaborate with Click A Child

On the 25 November '08, Click A Child (CAC) collaborated with Radiostar to promote their new t-shirt. Radiostar also promoted their new t-shirt with a cute CAC logo on it. The green coloured shirt looks yummy, seriously, you guys should buy it because the green colour is nice. Bukan hijau yang kelakar.

These are some of the photos that we took that day. Thanks to Brown Black Blues Studio for providing 'space' for us to do the shoot. The session was fun because these guys are very friendly and laughter always filled the studio.

Super Sunday

The Super Sunday founded in January 2007 and after few legal works, it is established as company named Super Sunday Enterprise in August 2007. They are previously doing their own t-shirt label combined and open an Independent Label Shop as the "Super Sunday Store" on 1st January 2008. Then an open t-shirt printing and airbrush studio is opened at Damansara Damai in April 2008. Another crew than later joined The Super Sunday late July 2008.

They were interviewed by TV9 due to the so-called vandalisme of the long graffiti that they made at Sg Kelang. DBKL questioned about what they have done. Then Super Sunday stated that rather than just leaving a space empty, they installed art. Art for people to see, appreciate and even make people think. Some even adore what they have done. When people tend to walk by and stop to look at it, in a way it can prevent 'mat-mat dadah' from loitering there.

Well, some people just don't understand. nak buat macam mana :)

Some of the activities that they have done is not only just entertaining them. Radiostar sang a few songs then an astronaut arrived. It was a great shock for them but also a good exposure. People from Voices taught them how to read English language books, telling them stories about historians. Then afterward, asking them to draw their deepest ambition. It is amazing sometimes, how an imagination of a kid amazes us.

Ironi Iris Resources is a photography based company, formed by 2 photographers and assisted by a close friend of them. the job scope that we offer varies from wedding, events, product, model, portfolio shot purposes, families, etc. anything related with photography, we will try our best in serving your needs.

we also offer other graphic related projects such as websites and even printing matters. name cards, banners, posters. multitasking - yes, that's the word :)

for now, we're quite busy with jobs but later on, we will upload more of our works. who knows, YOU might be interested to hire us :)
